Scoutmaster, Troop 803
Dear Potential Scouts and Parents,
My name is Steve Giampaoli. I am the Scoutmaster for Troop 803, and I am taking this opportunity to introduce Boy Scouting, myself, and our Troop to you.
I believe that Scouting is the program that parents want for their children. Parents want their boys to become men of character and to grow to be the kind of citizens who acknowledge and fulfill their duties to God, to country, to family, and to self. We want them to learn how to make and keep friends, how to swim safely, and how to live in the outdoors. We want them to develop leadership skills, to learn how to make ethical choices, and how to appreciate the differences in others.
I have also seen firsthand that Scouting is the program that boys want. Boys love to do the things that Scouts do. They love to run and jump and climb and play. They love to swim, fish, hike and camp. They love to have fun, make friends, go on trips, and pitch tents. They love to help out, learn new skills, be recognized and play on the team. They love to achieve. They love to succeed. They love to grow.
The Scouting program is much more than a fun activity. I believe that it is exactly what our children need for them to become the kind of citizens that we want them to be.
Troop 803 is a medium sized troop, which allows me to get to know each boy individually. During his scouting career, it is likely that your son and I will have many conversations about his advancement and his experience in scouting in general. I also get the chance to get to know each boy’s parents and work together with them to make our program the best it can be for their boy and the Troop.
Troop 803 welcomes a wide range of boys, from Arrow of Light WEBELOS to boys in tenth grade with no scouting experience. We are an interfaith troop. I have experience supporting those needing ADA accommodations. We meet every week, get outdoors every month and participate in summer camp and High Adventure every summer.
Please take the opportunity to attend our troop’s Open House in November at Los Cerros Middle School where you can meet our scouts, their parents and our troop’s adult leaders. We also invite you and your son to go with us on our annual archery outing in December. The dates and times for both can be found on our website.
